Documentation for new students - Doctoral degrees

Candidates who have pre-registered for a doctoral programme, who have uploaded the documents required for access and admission and who are in a position to formalise their registration must complete the registration process by presenting the following original documents to the Secretary's Office of the Faculty/School/Campus:

DOCUMENTATION TO BE PROVIDED BY ALL DOCTORAL STUDENTS (except for those with URV degrees):
  • Valid Identity document:
    • Students with Spanish nationality: do not need to provide their identity document because the URV will confirm their identity with the corresponding administration.

    • Foreign students from another EU member state: must provide the original and photocopy, or a certified photocopy, of their valid (unexpired) national identity card, passport or Spanish foreigner's residence card

    • Foreign students from countries outside the EU: must provide the original and photocopy, or a certified photocopy, of their valid (unexpired) passport or Spanish foreigner's residence card.

  • Academic documents:
    • Certificate/s of qualification that enables access to doctoral programme
    • Graduates of Spanish universities: do not need to present this certificate because the URV will check that they hold the necessary qualification with registry of qualifications of the corresponding ministry. If the University is unable to verify this, it will carry out an internal consultation or it will ask the candidate to provide proof that they have paid the fees for the issuance of qualification certificate (original and photocopy or certified photocopy).

    • Graduates from other countries: must provide the original and photocopy or certified photocopy of the certificate of their access qualification. In these cases, the documents must

      • be officially translated into Catalan or Spanish in accordance with the instructions of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, except for documents originally issued in English or documents officially translated into English by means of sworn translation, where applicable;

      • be legalised unless they were obtained in an EU Member State, a signatory state of the European Economic Area Agreement or a state with a bilateral agreement with the EU.

  • Other documents specific to the doctoral programme, if required.

In the case of documents submitted as certified, the individual must follow the instructions established by the Office of the General Secretary of the URV.

  • Students with large families: Original and photocopy or attested photocopy of the large family certificate, which must be valid at the start of academic activity.

  • Doctoral students who are applying for an exemption from registration fees must provide documentary proof that they find themselves in the circumstances that make them eligible for the exemption on the date on which their studies begin (1 October 2024), regardless of the date on which they register.
