DOW/URV Chair of Sustainable Development - Presentation of the Report

Presentation of the Report about Teaching and Research on Sustainability and Environment at the University Rovira i Virgili.

On September 26th, there was a great audience at the “sala de graus” in the Campus Catalunya. The presentation of the Report about Teaching and Research on Sustainability and Environment at the University Rovira i Virgili took place. This report was carried out as part of the activities of the DOW/URV Chair of Sustainable Development and coordinated by Dr. Joan Alberich (on the picture below: first from the right), professor at the Department of Geography at the URV. During the curse of the event, Dr. Ramon Folch (second from right), editor of the Environmental Plan of the URV, gave the lecture: “Why is a new productive model needed?”.

The event was chaired by Dr. Francesc Xavier Grau, rector of the URV (at the center of the picture), Mr. Ignasi Cañagueral (second from left), director of the Sustainability and Infrastructure Department of DOW Chemical in Tarragona and Dr. Òscar Saladié (first from teh left), director of the DOW/URV Chair of Sustainable Development.

The report has been elaborated by the DOW/URV Chair of Sustainable Development in order to quantify, analyze and evaluate the teaching and the research related to the environment and the sustainability which is ongoing at the University Rovira i Virgili. This is an exhaustive compilation of the information about their daily tasks in research and teaching that the various bodies and institutions of the URV (faculties, departments, research centers and institutes, etc.) make available to the university community through various and varied channels, with a greater role of the Internet network.

This report reveals that the URV studies are characterized by a high awareness about the environment, highlighting a high presence in the official curriculum of the Faculty of Tourism and Geography of Vila-seca, in studies that allow a legal approach to the environmental sciences, especially in the Center for Environmental Law Tarragona (CEDAT) and also to all programs related to chemistry.
