Currículum Vitae
I was born in Valls in 1956 and I was awarded my Degree in Chemistry from the University of Barcelona (1979), where I also obtained my PhD (1983). After a postdoctoral stay at the University of Strasbourg I became a senior lecturer of Physical Chemistry at the URV (1986). I have been a full professor of Physical Chemistry since 2001. In 2004 I completed a two-month research stay at Emory University.
I am a member of the URV's Quantum Chemistry research group at the URV and was leader of the group from 2008 to 2022. I am the co-author of over 270 articles published in indexed international journals (h = 55) focused on the application of computational chemistry methods to various fields in chemistry and materials science.
In 2012 I received the Physical Chemistry award from the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry. Two years later I was named a Distinguished Professor of the URV and the following year I was awarded the ICREA Academy Award for excellence in research. As a proud citizen of Valls, I was especially moved in 2015 to receive recognition as "Vallenc of the Year" along with Laia Vilà Nadal of the University of Glasgow.
I have twice been Head of the Department of Physical and Inorganic Chemistry (1997-2003 and 2011-17).
