Xavier Farré Albendea

Currículum Vitae
I was awarded a Degree in Physics (specializing in Fundamental Physics) and a Degree in Economics and Business (specializing in the Actuarial and Financial) by the University of Barcelona, and a PhD in Economics by the URV. I was the first doctoral student to defend their thesis at the Terres de l'Ebre Campus (2011).
In 2002 I was appointed director of the Doctor Manyà University School in Tortosa, which was at that time affiliated to the URV and offered programmes in Business Sciences. Later it became the Doctor Manyà University Centre and incorporated the Undergraduate Degree in Tourism. When the Centre became an integral component of the URV in 2005 and until 2021, I was Deputy Director of the Terres de l'Ebre Campus. I am also the Deputy Director of the URV's Chair in Local and Regional Economics.
As a lecturer in the Department of Economics, I have taught practically all compulsory subjects on the Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management in relation to the fundamentals of economic analysis and applied economics. Since 2002 I have also helped to organize the Terres de l'Ebre Economics Symposium. I initiated and consolidated the Employment Forum with the support of companies and institutions in the region. With these we have established strong links that have enabled the creation of high-impact projects.
I am a member of the Industry and Territory Research Group (GRIT), where my research and transfer fields focus on regional development and the economic impact of tourism, with special emphasis on the demographic component. This activity has enabled me to draft multiple strategic plans, studies and reports related to events, municipalities and locations in the region.
After almost two decades involved in the management of the Terres de l'Ebre Campus, I feel I am able and motivated to face new challenges in all its facets and perspectives (teaching staff, students, administration and services staff, institutional relations, etc.). To undertake this project, I know I enjoy the collaboration and support of a talented team led by a rector from the Ebro region.
