Induction plan for the teaching and research staff

URV Language Policy

In compliance with prevailing legislation and the language policy language policy objectives of the URV and the Catalan university system, the common language of the URV and the language of instruction is Catalan.

For this reason, university teaching staff must certify a C1 mastery of Catalan in the competitive selection processes for employment. To this end, the URV offers the PDI Catalan courses of various levels, so that they can improve and officially accredit their command of the language.

The teaching staff must use the course guide to notify students of the language of instruction of each subject before registration begins (principle of language transparency) and they must stick to the announced language to guarantee the language rights of the university community (principle of language security).

The instructions for exercises and exams must be given in the language of instruction announced, although the student has the right to answer in either Catalan or Spanish (or in other languages if the course guide so allows).

For any queries about language usage and rights, the URV's Language Policy, la Language Policy Commission has set up a specific channel for the university community to make any complaints and inquiries they like.

Likewise, the URV's Language and Publications Service provides all members of the teaching and research staff with a free service for correcting and translating teaching material.
