Dolors Comas d'Argemir is Full Professor of Social Anthropology. Since the beginning of my academic career, my lines of research have focused on gender: women`s jobs (paid and unpaid) and changes in the family. Among my initial publications I highlight the books Vides de dones (with Y. Bodoque, 1990) and Trabajo, género y cultura. (1995), and the book chapter "Gender Relations and Social Change in Europe: On Support and Care" (1994). In these publications I raise the issue of care, at a time when it was barely addressed in Spain. Between 1995-2012, I was member of Tarragona City Council, the Catalan Parliament and the Catalan Audiovisual Council, participating in the formulation of several laws related with women rights. From this dual academic and political perspective, I have been working on violence against women, and the right to care and to be cared for. Recent research focuses on aging and the involvement of men in care, and I am currently conducting a research on the impact of Covid-19 on caregivers of the elderly and dependents. In the last ten years, I have published in high impact journals, as well as knowledge transfer.
Project: Ethics of care, gender, and crisis. The impact of deinstitutionalization and re-familiarization in caring for elderly and dependent people (reference: 2020MFP-COFUND-30)
