The economic impact of wind energy at local scale in Catalonia. Comparative study.
April 29 at 16 am, under the Master's Degree in Enviromental Law at the University Rovira i Virgili in the Sala de Graus of the URV Catalunya Campus, was presented the study "The economic impact of wind energy at local scale in Catalonia. Compartive study" commissioned by the City of Granadella and conducted by Sergi Saladié, professor of the Department of Geography at the URV.
The objectives of the study were:
-analyze the theoretical discourse on the benefits of wind turbines are made from government and development companies.
-analyze the economic impact of wind energy locally in Catalonia, through consultation with the municipalities that have wind turbines to analyze the annual income they receive from these economic activities.
-analyze whether there is a correlation between income and territories of Catalonia.
-compare theoretical discourse of public administration and promoters with figures obtained from the municipalities.
-make a series of recommendations on how to improve municipal revenue from the activity generated by wind facilities.
The event was organized by the Centre for Environmental Law in Tarragona (CEDAT) and the DOW/URV Chair of Sustainable Development.
