Tourism Innovation and Research Chair Salou - Costa Daurada

This Chair has been conceived as a tool for interdisciplinary reflection, debate, and dissemination around tourism. The Chair aims to fulfill the following main objectives:

  • Promote knowledge, research, and innovation in tourism to enhance the tourist competitiveness of the area through the application of the knowledge gained from the studies conducted.

  • Provide tools to improve the tourist experience for visitors and the quality of life for residents, including new forms of citizen participation in the territory-destination relationship.

  • Bring closer the link between society and tourism activity, explaining the contributions of tourism to society through reports, news, and publications, while also integrating the citizens' perspective into tourism management bodies with shared governance proposals, such as the creation of conferences, participatory processes, etc.

  • Facilitate cooperation between public and private agents, between institutions and businesses in the area.

  • Enhance the prestige of tourism activity in the territory, encouraging the involvement of young people (students) in the industry and the tourism sector through communication and training actions both online and in-person: talks, workshops, seminars, forums, etc.

  • Position the Costa Daurada as a leading tourist destination, also from an academic and research perspective, boosting the reputation of the brand and promoting a common strategy as a more innovative, sustainable, accessible, and smart destination.
