The main aim of the Master's Degree in the Criminal Law System is to provide specialised training in the different disciplines in the criminal law system, consisting mainly of substantive criminal law, criminal procedure, criminology and victimology. The programme covers the need for a complete education for people who would like to develop their professional or academic career in this area and already hold a degree in Law, Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science or other social sciences in the field.
Since the Master's Degree is research-oriented, as well as focusing on areas such as substantive criminal law, criminal procedure, criminology and victimology, students are trained in research methodology. The programme provides them with the methodological knowledge and skills that enable them to move on from the master's thesis to a doctorate.
The Master's Degree is taught in a blended format: every semester begins with two weeks of face-to-face classes in the core module (first semester) and four days in the optional module (second semester). The face-to-face module is followed by the online module, with weekly activities.
