Health institutions
The curriculum in Medicine and the Health Sciences emphasizes practical teaching which, in the case of the second cycle or the clinical cycle, must be 70% of the teaching hours.
Therefore, the teaching plans of the URV envisages that the students will spend most of their time in health institutions. The students acquire their practical experience in the university hospitals Joan XXIII in Tarragona, and Sant Joan and Pere Mata in Reus, or the affiliated or collaborating hospitals Sant Pau i Santa Tecla in Tarragona, Pius in Vlls and the Verge de la Cinta in Tortosa.
What is more, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the URV pioneered the introduction of the extra-hospital network in undergraduate teaching. The health institutions mentioned also participate in various lines of research.
